Du lernst bei uns alles, was du für die Bühne brauchst. Und ganz vieles davon kann man natürlich nicht nur auf der Bühne, sondern auch im Film gebrauchen. You'll improvise, you'll chose your own scenes and monologues to work on or even write something yourself. Wir tauchen ein in die Nuancen beider Sprachen und was sie mit sich bringen für die Arbeit auf der Bühne. You'll learn to hear in a new way, and learn how to put that to use onstage.

Acting has so many different aspects. We'll address many of these facets during this course.

Audition Prep

Wer irgendwo vorspricht - sei das bei einem Casting oder bei einem Theater - der braucht in der Regel mindestens einen Monolog, der das eigene Können gut zum Ausdruck bringt.

In this course we will pick a monologue for you that you will work on and prepare in a way so that you can use it at an audition.

Sprache

The class is held in both English and German and you need to be able to understand both to a certain degree.

Ein Ziel dieses zweisprachigen Kurses ist, dass du die beiden Sprachen und was sie in dir wecken fürs Schauspiel nutzen kannst.

Scenes

So much of acting is interaction. You will either chose your own existing scenes or write one with a partner in the language you would like to act in.

Anhand dieser Szenen vertiefen wir Skills wie Timing, Wiederholbarkeit und Agieren-Reagieren.

Über Martina Rick

Martina is the founder of Les Arts Scéniques. Schon als Kind war sie begeistert vom Theater und hat für ihre Geburtstagsparties Theaterstücke geschrieben, die sie dann wochenlang mit ihren Freunden geprobt hat. As a six-year-old she spent a year on the East Coast of the US, went to kindergarten there and picked up the English language in no time.

Schon immer hat es Martina fasziniert, was die drei Sprachen, mit denen sie so vertraut war, in ihr für unterschiedliche Persönlichkeitsaspekte hervorriefen. Swiss German made her imply things rather than being direct, High German made her clear-thinking and precise and English helped her be more open in interactions with others.

Sich in mehreren Sprachen bewegen zu können erlaubt einem, Aspekte von sich kennen zu lernen, die einem sonst vielleicht verborgen blieben. Diese Ressource fürs Schauspielen zu nutzen, liegt sehr nahe und Martina freut sich schon sehr auf den Kurs.

Working by yourself - the monologue

Preparing a monologue is not easy. There's nobody to talk to, it feels like a weird "talking to yourself"-moment and it's easy to start doubting what you're doing. Wir werden gemeinsam einen Monolog für dich aussuchen, der deine Stärken gut vermittelt und ihn dann so vorbereiten, dass du ihn für eine Audition oder ein Casting benutzen kannst. We'll work on phrasing, movement, diction, structure and psychological aspects of the character. Und - wir erarbeiten das auf eine Weise, dass du jederzeit selbständig wieder einen neuen Monolog erarbeiten kannst, weil du genau weisst, was du zu tun hast.

Working with others - the scenes

Nichts bestimmt Schauspiel mehr als das Zusammenspiel, die Interaktion mit anderen auf der Bühne. There are so many things to consider if it's not just you up there onstage. Wie bewege ich mich in Relation zu den anderen, wie sieht die Szene für den Zuschauer aus, wie reagiere ich auf die Aktionen der anderen, how do I stay true to myself while being open and attentive to what's going on? Authentizität und Spontaneität sind nicht Dinge, die man einfach "hat". For the stage there are ways to cultivate those qualities and to make them available to you as an actor.

Acting - the craft

Anhand der verschiedenen Texte - in English and in German - lernen wir viele verschiedene Rollen, Situationen und Interpretationsmöglichkeiten kennen. You'll learn about the many aspects that the craft of acting encompasses: Sprechen, sich bewegen, den Raum nutzen, Variationen finden, die Motivation eines Charakters entdecken etc. etc. Through using two different languages you will discover the different ways you respond to them and learn to use these feelings and reactions to make your roles come alive onstage.

Performance - the finishing touches

Last but not least - der Kurs schliesst ab mit einem Showcase, in dem die erarbeiteten Szenen und Monologe einem Publikum präsentiert werden. It's important to learn how to finish something to a degree that it can be performed. It's important to be well-prepared and to know what you're doing. Winging it is not an option - that's for emergencies - but that's a whole other class... ;-). Die Aufführung vor Publikum erlaubt dir zu überprüfen, ob du auch in dieser Situation das Erarbeitete abrufen und mit Energie spielen kannst. Bestimmte Dinge lernt man nur mit Publikum.

Selbstvertrauen

Auf der Bühne stehen ist toll - gar keine Frage - aber weisst du, was dir das gemeinsame Üben mit anderen auch noch bringt? Confidence. It's going to help you speak in front of a group, take initiative and actively share your ideas with others.

Friends

Working on your acting skills means involving yourself emotionally and showing colors of yourself that are maybe usually hidden away. Diese Erfahrungen mit anderen im Kurs zu teilen, verbindet und kann Freundschaften entstehen lassen.

Kritikfähigkeit

Do you sometimes find it hard to accept criticism? Your'e not alone. :-) Dieser Kurs kann dir einen neuen Umgang mit Kritik zeigen. Feedback is based on clear criteria and helps promote self-reflection and the ability to constructively offer help to others.

We care about creating a good atmosphere just as much as making sure that we challenge you in order for you to learn and grow as actors. Dieser Kurs ist nicht "ein bisschen auf der Bühne herumblödeln". We aim to teach you the craft of acting in a relaxed but focused learning situation.


Du lernst bei uns, darüber nachzudenken, was du tust. So lernst du, selbständig etwas zu gestalten und einzuschätzen, ob etwas gut ist oder noch verbessert werden muss. Because I'm sure you want to be good rather than just mediocre, right? ;-)

This is important to us

Theaterspielen ist ein Unternehmen in der Gruppe. Das heisst, alle sind aufeinander angewiesen. That's why it's important that you attend all classes. Stell dir vor, du probst eine Szene mit einem Kollegen, und er kommt nicht zur Probe, weil er unbedingt an eine Geburtstagsparty will. Then you can't rehearse and your colleague misses out on everything we cover during that class. Dann funktioniert gar nichts und alle sind schlecht gelaunt, weil es nicht vorwärts geht.

Wenn du dich also entscheidest, an diesem Kurs teilzunehmen, dann verpflichtest du dich auch, immer da zu sein. Obviously not if you're sick, that's a different matter. Aber du machst dir bewusst, dass die Zeit am Dienstagabend für den Schauspielkurs reserviert ist und dass du zu einer Gruppe gehörst und ein wichtiger Teil von ihr bist. Please also explain this to your parents if they are of the opinion that it's no big deal if you miss a class of two. ;-)

Theater funktioniert nur, wenn alle, die mitmachen, sich auch wirklich voll engagieren und da sind. Sonst macht es keinen Spass.

Voraussetzungen
  • You are between 14-18 years old.
  • Du sprichst und liest fliessend Deutsch oder Englisch und verstehst die jeweils andere Sprache gut genug, um dem Unterricht folgen zu können. | You speak and read English or German fluently and understand the other language well enough to be able to follow the class.
  • Du verpflichtest dich, in allen Kursstunden und Proben dabeizusein.
  • You are serious about your participation and prepare for your classes, i.e. you learn lines at home or practice something we've covered at rehearsal.
  • Du interessierst dich ernsthaft für Schauspiel und bist bereit, dich voll zu engagieren.

faq

Was ist, wenn ich mal krank bin?

Please don't come to class if you're ill. Wir möchten - gerade jetzt, wo die Pandemie noch immer nicht vorbei ist - niemanden anstecken, egal womit. Martina or one of your colleagues will inform you about what we rehearsed and any homework.

What about COVID?

Les Arts Scéniques hat ein Schutzkonzept. Der Kurs- und Proberaum wird regelmässig gelüftet, die Oberflächen werden regelmässig desinfiziert und alle Kursleiter sind gegen COVID geimpft. Wir richten uns nach den geltenden Regeln des BAG und des Kantons. Sollte es zu einer weiteren COVID-Infektionswelle kommen, in der die Zahl der Infizierten wieder enorm ansteigt, kann es unter Umständen nötig werden, den Kurs online via Zoom fortzuführen. For this the participants need an internet connections and a computer/laptop/tablet with a camera and microphone. Participants explicitly agree to participate online, should this really become necessary - which we hope will not be the case, all fingers crossed.

Kann ich eine Schnupperstunde Machen?

Nope. We don't offer trial lessons for two simple reasons: 1. Wir brauchen Planungssicherheit und müssen wissen, wieviele Teilnehmer in einem Kurs dabei sind. 2. It's really important to us that everyone feels at home in the group. Beim Theaterspielen muss man einander vertrauen können, und das geht nicht von heute auf morgen. That's why we want to keep the group consistent and not have people drop in an out.
